Entomology Talk

mothHappy New Year! The nature journaling group that meets in the herbarium on Thursday mornings is starting off the new year with a program on insects.

Bob Smith, an entomologist from Arizona who is spending the holidays in Sewanee, will share some secrets of insect success with the group.  His special interests are in aquatic insects and insect reproductive behavior.  He’s also interested in the evolution of wood-eating insects, which include termites and wood-eating cockroaches.

Meeting time is 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, in the Herbarium, Spencer Hall 171.  (Enter the main door across from the library, turn left into the hallway, and it’s the second room on the left.) Everyone is invited.  Immerse yourself for an hour or so in the fascinating world of insects, the most successful organisms on earth!
