79 Newly-mounted Specimens

Four cheerful volunteers turned out this morning to help curator Mary Priestley mount plant specimens collected in the 1960’s for the Manual of the Vascular Flora of the Carolinas and now on permanent loan to the Sewanee Herbarium from UNC Chapel Hill. The specimens, many of which were fragile and a challenge to mount, have spent the last 50 years in newspaper. It was a productive and fun morning, and interesting to read articles, ads, and political cartoons in those old newspapers!
