Once-a-Year Delight

They’re back! Those amazing perennials, the pink lady’s-slippers, are blooming right now.If you don’t have a favorite lady’s slipper haunt, just ask around. Most people know the location of at least one nice patch. Dependent on soil fungi for survival, these beauties are notoriously difficult to transplant. It’s best not to try, but rather to seek them out where they have found a home. Here on the Domain, they may be found in the most acidic woods. Sometimes we find them in oak forests, and often they inhabit old pine plantations. Enjoy!
