Nectar sippin’ time!

honeysuckle Here’s a flower brings a nostalgic smile to the face of this longtime honeysuckle sipper. Yes, Japanese honeysuckle is an aggressive exotic pest plant. But the sweet fragrance is equaled only by that delicious drop of nectar that it shares with those who know where to find it.  Don’t know? Remove the calyx, squeeze the little green bump of an ovary, and pull the style back through the flower’s throat. If you’re lucky, it will bring a glistening drop of nectar, just enough for a tiny taste, with it. Ahh . . . summertime!
