Chilly Week!

This week has been one of ice and snow — we got just enough of both to make things sparkle! What’s prettier than a bright red roughleaf dogwood (Cornus drummondii) twig in winter? How about one that’s turned into an ice sculpture?

Or how about a hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)  branch covered in snow? Many thanks to TN State Natural Heritage Botanist Todd Crabtree for the photo of the dogwood twig, taken early this week in nearby Smyrna, TN.
