Lion’s Mane Mushroom

IMG_0830 This was a first for me — several delicate white “tooth” mushrooms growing out of a dead standing Chestnut Oak on the Perimeter Trail. Turns out, these are popular in much Eastern cooking and are grown commercially. They also have medicinal uses.  They are absolutely beautiful and apparently fairly delicate. We saw two that seemed to be in great condition and one that had completely dissolved.
