Hi, Cotton!

And soybeans, corn, and hay! The fields in the valley surrounding Sewanee are bursting with the fruits of somebody’s labors, and any day we’ll see the big mechanized harvesters at work. The absence of such fields here on the plateau is one more clue to the relative richness of the soils in the valley, Situated on limestone bedrock, soils there are naturally less acidic and hold more moisture than the sandstone-based soils up here. There’s nothing more beautiful than the plateau, and we are lucky to be surrounded by this pastoral landscape.
