Tennessee’s Duck River is mighty biodiverse, anyway! I spent the weekend on the banks of this beautiful little river, which is renowned for its diversity of aquatic organisms. The river touts 151 species of fish, 60 species of freshwater mussels. and 22 species of aquatic snails. Some endangered species of mussels are being relocated tho the Duck to ensure their survival until they can be returned to their native rivers. Several years ago, this river was designated by National Geographic as one of North America’s most biodiverse rivers. And a 7-mile section of the Duck has been designated a Tennessee state scenic river.
