Summer Nights

The night-blooming cereus, an otherwise gangly , unmanageable houseplant, struts its stuff on summer nights, producing elegant, sweetly fragrant blooms, each of which lasts through only one evening. Last night, this plant had five flowers blooming at once. We brought it inside, cutting off any chance of a visit by a pollinating hawk moth, so we could savor the show. Magnificent!IMG_2355
