It’s Beginning to Look a Lot …

… like Christmas?? Well, it’s coming, regardless! Our grounds crew was out this week dangling over the  American holly (Ilex opaca) near Breslin Tower decorating it with strings of lights in anticipation of the tree’s being lighted in early December. (Thanks, Terry Turner, for the pics!) This is the warmest — and driest — fall Sewanee’s had in my experience. Even the woody plants are wilting. We haven’t yet had a freeze — I caught this hydrangea blooming away in Ellliott Park. But both rain and frost are in the forecast for this weekend, so maybe winter’s finally on its way.
