A Weed By Any Other Name …

Wildflower admirers would have a hard time thinking of butterfly weedAsclepius tuberosa  as a weed! But this beloved plant is stuck with the monicker. Yes, butterflies love it for its nectar, as do bees and hummingbirds. It also serves as a larval plant for queen and monarch butterflies. Butterfly weed needs lots of sunshine, and it’s often seen brightening roadsides as summertime warms up.
