We’ve all heard about the danger of being distracted by cell phones while driving. But what about those distracting drop-dead beautiful wildflowers that bedeck our roads and highways these days? This lovely gray-headed coneflower (Ratibidia pinnata) caught my eye while driving up the Cumberland Plateau this week. Luckily, no one was right behind me and there was a convenient pull-off. In the Sewanee area, look for it in sunny spots on the lower slopes. But for goodness sake, try to keep at least one eye on the road!
