Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

— Robert Frost

It’s been a great run, and now it’s time to commit “The Goings-on of the Sewanee Herbarium” to the history books. Many thanks to herbarium post-baccalaureate fellow Nathan Bourne, Sewanee, C’11, for creating this blog, and of course to all who contributed and let me post their photos. These last couple of pictures, taken by current herbarium fellow Angus Pritchard, C’22, are of the terrarium that he and fellow fellow Lillian Fulcrum, C’21, put together in the herbarium. The Tipularia’s about to bloom — as well as plenty more “goings-on” in the herbarium! Stay tuned — find us as “Sewanee Herbarium” on Facebook and @sewanee_herbarium on Instagram.
