Here’s a sight: a field of narrow-leaved asters! “Aster” means “star,” and asters are arguably the stars of the season. Several years ago, taxonomists who study this group of plants decided that the aster genus was contained too many species that probably aren’t closely enough related to include them in the same genus. So now this plant has been moved from the Aster to the Symphyotrichum genus. No matter! They are still asters to many of us! These plants love the sunshine, so you’ll find them lighting up the brightest spots around.
